A DADU is a Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit.

A typical DADU in Nashville is a two-story building with a garage on the lower level and a second floor with livable space.

Can you build a DADU on your property?

Whether or not you can build a DADU on your property depends on the zoning restrictions.

Zoning restrictions also impact the size you are permitted to build and how you can use it once it is built.

Some neighborhoods allow you to use it as a rental, others do not.
